Driver Tracking Survey Findings 1

Category: Uncategorized

In a recent survey, we asked 30 companies throughout the UK for their opinions on vehicle tracking systems and the continued development of related technology.

Of the individuals we surveyed, 65% were currently using vehicle trackers, however, 60% of people also said they would not consider adopting more advanced features such as driver facing cameras.

This shows a large acceptance of simple GPS driver tracking systems which are now seen by many as standard equipment.  More advanced technology however such as internal cameras are still facing resistance as many feel they are an intrusion of privacy.

Driver facing cameras can provide enormous benefits such as being able to detect drowsiness and make recommendations to pull over. They can also be used as evidence in cases of accidents to prove exactly what happened.

But do these positives outweigh the driver’s right to privacy?
Is there any way the technology could be adapted to please everyone?

Other questions in the complete survey :

  • Do you use / would you consider using advanced tracking features such as driver facing cameras?
  • Do you use / would you consider using driver tracking technology outside of the vehicle to monitor exercise, sleep or eating patterns?
  • How do you feel about the following statement: Advanced driver monitoring technology can provide valuable business benefits
  • How do you feel about the following statement: Advanced driver monitoring technology can provide valuable lifestyle benefits to drivers
  • How do you feel about the following statement: Driver monitoring technology has gone too far and has become invasive and unfair on the driver
