How long does a job take vs how long was planned?

Do you know the difference between how long you planned for a job and how long it actually takes?

In TeamPoint can you track the difference between the driving and working time that was planned on a job against the actual time that was spent driving and working.

TeamPoint automatically generates timesheets for your mobile operatives as they work through their jobs each day. Time is logged for working hours, traveling hours and breaks. Once submitted, TeamPoint compares the amount of time planned on each job for travelling and working with the actual time your technicians spend on a job and travelling to jobs in their vans. TeamPoint calculates the difference between the two, which gives you some very valuable information.

  • When authorising timesheets you can see the variance from planned for each operative at a weekly level, daily level and broken down job by job. This can help if you suspect their timesheets are not being reported correctly.

  • You might see that engineer A averages 20% over on all jobs where engineer B avarages 10% under - this may show which are your best workers and where training might be needed.

  • You might see that all electrical testing jobs routinely over-run by 18%, which may indicate that you are consistently under-estimating how long certain tasks take.

  • You might see driving times in the south east are 25% more than predicted, which may indicate that you need to allow more driving time in these areas or recruit new operatives that are closer to your jobs.

Feeding this information back into your planning process, adjusting time given for PPM tasks, adjusting driving times between jobs, knowing which operatives are most likely to complete jobs on time, is very powerful and means future plans will be more accurate. You will get more work out of your technicians and you will be better able to plan jobs and get all works completed within SLA.
