Connecting Retrofit Design and Delivery: TeamPoint and Retrofit Design Pro

TeamPoint, the UK job and project management software for contractors, is working with Retrofit Design Pro, the PAS 2035 retrofit design platform from The Green Umbrella Collective. Together we're developing an integration to connect retrofit design with installation and delivery. It isn't available yet, and we're inviting retrofit businesses to help shape it.

At TeamPoint, we've noticed a gap in the software available to retrofit businesses in the UK. There are some excellent specialist solutions for different stages of the process, but finding one that connects everything from the initial property assessment through to completed installation is another matter.

Designing a compliant retrofit project is a substantial undertaking. Delivering that design is another, with a great deal to coordinate along the way. Assessments, specifications, approvals, installation teams, subcontractors, materials, site evidence and project costs all need managing, often across multiple properties, involving different retrofit measures and several organisations. Add changing funding methods and compliance requirements into the mix, and it's easy to see why the industry presents so many challenges.

The problem isn't a lack of software. It's that different stages are often managed in separate systems, with information having to be transferred between them. This creates duplicated work, disconnected records and unnecessary opportunities for error.

In 2025 we started to explore how we could bring these processes together within TeamPoint. We worked closely with a retrofit company on a pilot project to understand how the different workflows relate to one another. We learnt a great deal, but identified an important limitation. Although design specifications and compliance documents could be stored against jobs, sites and projects within TeamPoint, the information within them wasn't directly connected to the operational workflows.

We would like to streamline the process further.

That's what led us to Nick Maguire and Andrew Foote of The Green Umbrella Collective, the team behind Retrofit Design Pro.

We're delighted to be developing a partnership that brings together their expertise in retrofit assessment, design and PAS 2035 compliance with TeamPoint's experience of managing the practical delivery of work.

Our ambition is to connect the two platforms so that information from an approved retrofit design can feed into quotations, purchasing and installation jobs. In turn, evidence collected on site could contribute to compliance records, customer handover packs and business reporting, with a clear record of who was responsible for each action along the way.

The aim: less duplicated administration, better visibility and a clearer picture of what's happening at every property.

Two specialist platforms, working towards one connected retrofit journey.

Introducing Retrofit Design Pro

Retrofit Design Pro has been developed by Nick Maguire and Andrew Foote of The Green Umbrella Collective, drawing on their experience of retrofit projects and the considerable amount of administration involved in producing compliant designs.

Anyone who has worked with PAS 2035 will be familiar with collecting property information, reviewing surveys, preparing specifications and transferring the same details between documents. It all needs doing but an extraordinary amount of time can be spent on administration rather than the design decisions themselves.

Nick and Andrew wanted to change that.

Their software brings retrofit assessment, design and compliance processes together, making some particularly interesting use of artificial intelligence. Its Kickstart feature can work with RdSAP assessment data, surveys and supporting information to prepare much of an initial design, ready for a qualified professional to review and refine. Nick and Andrew report that this can populate around 95% of the design information, considerably reducing the amount of repetitive work involved.

The platform also supports the preparation of specifications and PAS 2035 design packs, helping users consider interactions between improvement measures, ventilation and moisture risks, and the information needed to demonstrate compliance. Built-in checks can highlight missing details and outstanding decisions before a project progresses.

Beyond producing documentation, Retrofit Design Pro helps coordinators and designers track properties through the design process, monitor delivery readiness and see what still needs attention. For organisations managing large programmes of work, being able to follow the progress of individual properties is particularly useful.

The team continues to develop Retrofit Design Pro around the practical requirements of the people using it.

And it's encouraging to hear how the software is already being used. Zoe from FPP Design Studio describes the difference it's made to their work:

As our retrofit workload continues to grow, we needed a solution that could help us streamline the design process without compromising quality. Retrofit Design Pro has made a real difference, reducing the time spent on repetitive tasks and giving us more confidence that our designs are consistent and compliant. It's easy to use and has quickly become a valuable part of our workflow.

What appeals to us at TeamPoint is the thinking behind the software. Nick and Andrew have taken an established, complicated process and asked which parts really need a person's expertise and which could be handled more efficiently by technology.

TeamPoint and Retrofit Design Pro are on the same page — which is a good place to start!

From approved design to completed installation

At TeamPoint, we've spent 15 years developing job and project management software for contractors across building maintenance, drainage, utilities, electrical services, roofing, solar PV and other field service industries. We understand the practical challenges of organising people, managing projects, controlling costs and keeping track of work across multiple sites.

Retrofit contractors face many of the same challenges, often with several different measures being installed at one property and multiple trades involved.

TeamPoint already provides the tools to manage this work. Contractors can schedule installation teams, coordinate subcontractors, manage purchasing and variations, monitor project finances and keep track of progress. On site, operatives can access specifications and supporting documents, complete forms, take photographs and collect the evidence needed to demonstrate what's been done, including when working without an internet connection.

Project records bring this information together, making it easier for office teams to review completed work, follow progress and identify what needs attention across different properties and installation stages.

But what if much of the information needed to organise that work could come directly from the approved retrofit design?

Bringing retrofit design and delivery together

This is where we see genuine benefits for retrofit businesses.

Our ambition is to create a connected workflow in which information gathered during assessment and design can be used throughout the delivery of a project, rather than being repeatedly entered into different systems at different stages.

Imagine an approved retrofit design feeding directly into TeamPoint, providing the information needed to prepare quotations, plan purchasing and organise installation work. Property details, specifications and requirements would already be available, giving contractors a much better starting point for managing each project.

As work progresses, installers could access the relevant design information on site, record what they've completed and collect the photographs, forms and other evidence required. If unexpected conditions mean the original design needs to change, the appropriate people could be involved in reviewing and approving those changes, with a clear record of the decisions made.

And the information wouldn't stop being useful when the installation was finished. Evidence collected throughout the project could help populate compliance documentation and customer handover packs, support audits and feed into management reporting. Instead of gathering everything together at the end, much of the information would already be in place.

For contractors managing multiple properties, the benefits could be considerable: less duplicated administration, fewer gaps in communication, more reliable records and better visibility of progress and costs across the entire programme.

Both platforms already offer specialist functionality in their respective areas. What we're working towards is a genuine integration between them, allowing information to move through the retrofit process with far less manual intervention.

And we want to develop it with the businesses who will actually use it, making sure the connections we build reflect the realities of retrofit delivery.

Could your retrofit business help shape what comes next?

Are you managing retrofit projects across several systems, coordinating multiple trades or preparing to take on larger programmes of work? If so, we'd be interested in talking to you.

We're looking for retrofit businesses to become early development partners, working with us on real projects to help shape the integration between TeamPoint and Retrofit Design Pro.

This would be an opportunity to take a fresh look at how your business operates, working directly with the people developing both platforms. We'd like to understand where your processes work well, where information gets lost between design and installation, and what could make managing your projects easier.

In return, you'll have the chance to influence the software we're developing, with expert input into how technology could support your business as it grows.

The potential benefits go beyond saving time on administration. Better coordination between design and delivery could help you manage costs, keep track of progress and maintain the evidence needed to demonstrate compliant work. For businesses tendering for larger contracts, particularly with housing providers, being able to demonstrate reliable processes, consistent quality and clear reporting is increasingly valuable.

We don't want to develop software based on assumptions about how retrofit ought to work. We want to build it alongside the people delivering projects every day.

If you'd like to explore what a more connected approach could mean for your retrofit business, we'd love to hear from you.

Two platforms. Different strengths. One shared ambition: a more connected retrofit journey.
